A workshop to understand the regulatory system

As a community housing provider (CHP), is your management as strong as it can be? Are your services as good as they can be? Would you like to better understand NRSCH, the regulatory system?

Flyer promoting a workshop for community housing and service providers to better understand NRSCH, the regulatory system for community housing. It's got colourful blocks of colour in yellow, green, blue and orange.

In partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Housing Queensland and the NT Registrar, we are hosting a 2-day workshop about the national regulatory system for community housing (NRSCH).

Why come?

Join us to:

  • Understand why you would register, and whether it is right for your organisation.
  • Familiarise yourself with the application process.
  • Learn how to meet the 7 performance standards required for registration.

Program and speakers

We have a packed agenda, with guest speakers from government, service providers, peak bodies and NRSCH. It will be a great opportunity to get all your NRSCH questions answered! You can also meet and confer with special guests from Aboriginal Community Housing Industry Association: Simon Wade and Paula Taylor.

On the first day you’ll be empowered to decide if joining the regulatory system is right for your organisation; learn what’s involved in registering and in the periodic compliance checks; and gain insights from colleagues in already-registered organisations.

On the second day we’ll hear remarks from the Hon. Selena Uibo MP, Minister for Remote Housing and Homelands. Then we’ll do some deep dives into how you can demonstrate that your organisation meets the performance standards of the National Regulatory Code.

There will also be opportunities for one-on-one support as needed.

You’ll hear from:

  • Wendy Morton – NT Registrar for NRSCH
  • Karl Frank – Queensland Registrar for NRSCH – will share his knowledge of the registration process
  • Leonie Patterson – Executive Manager, Cultural Safety & Partnerships, Anglicare – will share her work in partnerships with small Aboriginal organisations
  • Mark Francis – General Manager, Business Development, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Queensland – will share his inside knowledge of NRSCH and his Queensland sector experience
  • Brent Warren – Deputy Chief Executive, Housing Operations, Territory Families, Housing and Communities – will describe the government perspective on NRSCH
  • Simon Wade – Director of Sector Development, Aboriginal Community Housing Industry Association – will discuss the support systems available to assist organisations in the registration process
  • Jasmin Stanford – from the National Regulatory System for Community Housing – will provide one-on-one support to organisations that ask for it
  • Clive Rosewarne, Strategic Projects Manager at Community Housing Central Australia and Janelle Aylmer, Property Services Manager at Yilli Rreung Housing Aboriginal Corporation – will share their experiences of registering and remaining compliant under NRSCH
